FlyPing Privacy Policy

Effective Date: July 6, 2026 Last Updated: August 16, 2026

Ziyi Feiyun ("we") takes your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how "FlyPing" (Chinese name 飞Ping, "the App") handles information while you use it.

1. Overview: We Do Not Collect Your Personal Data

FlyPing is a local-first network diagnostics tool. This App:

2. How Each Feature Handles Data

1. Ping (latency testing) and Telnet (port connectivity testing)

Both features use the native networking capabilities provided by your device's operating system (ICMP and TCP), communicating directly between your device and the host you manually entered. FlyPing never routes or proxies this traffic through any server, and we have no way of seeing which hosts you tested or what results you got.

2. Network (network info) — local device info

Your local IPv4 address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS server addresses are all read locally on your device through iOS system APIs (such as getifaddrs and the SystemConfiguration framework), and are never uploaded anywhere.

3. Network (network info) — public IP and carrier info

To show "your current public IP address" and "network carrier (ISP) information," the App makes anonymous HTTPS requests to the following third-party public lookup services. Which set of services is used depends on your device's system region setting (unrelated to your actual physical location):

Service Purpose Provider Applicable region
myip.ipip.net Public IPv4 address + province/carrier info ipip.net (third party) Preferred when system region is Mainland China
whois.pconline.com.cn Public IPv4 address + province/carrier info Pconline (third party) Preferred when system region is Mainland China
api.ipify.org Public IPv4 address ipify (third party) Preferred for other regions
ipapi.co Carrier (ISP) and ASN info ipapi.co (third party) Preferred for other regions
ipwho.is Carrier (ISP) and ASN info (fallback) ipwhois.io (third party) For other regions when ipapi.co is rate-limited or fails

If the preferred services for your region fail, the App falls back as follows:

When overseas services succeed, carrier info may include an ASN number; the domestic services never return an ASN.

Please note: these requests send your device's current public IP address to the corresponding third-party provider — the same way any ordinary website's server can see your IP address when you visit it. This is a fundamental mechanism of internet communication, not something FlyPing actively collects or stores. FlyPing never records, caches, or re-forwards these lookup results to any server of our own (because we have none); results are only used to display information on your device in real time.

If you'd prefer not to trigger these lookups, you can avoid pulling to refresh the Network page, or use the App's other features without a network connection.

For how these third-party services handle data, please refer to their respective websites:

3. What We Never Do

4. Permissions

The App requests Local Network access from the system (iOS shows this system prompt the first time you run a Ping or port check against a local-network address, such as 192.168.x.x). This permission only lets the Ping/Telnet features reach devices on your local network. You can revoke it at any time under Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network on your device. Turning it off will disable local-network testing but won't affect testing public hosts or the rest of the Network info page.

5. Children's Privacy

This App is not specifically directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us using the information below and we will address it promptly.

6. Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updated versions will be posted on this page, with the "Last Updated" date revised accordingly. For material changes, we will provide an appropriate in-app notice. We recommend checking this page periodically for the latest content.
